Some wonderful photo collages from Rachel that came unsolicited. Hmmm....I'm going to have to think of something good to return...

#004 & #004.5 - Mail
#004 - My return postcard to Grigori. At my daughter's school, the other day, I found this old outdated "first dictionary" that is just a gem.
#004.5 - My daughter, seeing Grigori's postcard to me, decided she wanted to send her a post card too.
Recieved from Debbie Dosanko
This came from Debbie in her return gift of blank etegami cards for my tomato etegami submission. Thank you!
Bed Rest
I'm coming out of forced bed rest of over a week due to my silly appendix which decided it was tired of living inside my body. It just demanded to be removed in quite an obnoxious manner. All is well now despite some lingering soreness. I have a some catching up to do now!

Etegami Entry - Tomato Dreams
This is first entry to any mail art call. This is an etegami which is a Japanese art form where there is simply a drawing with a few apt words usually on a post card (as is this entry). For more information on etegami, you can go to this website: http://etegamibydosankodebbie.blogspot.com/

#003 Leaves and Bookmarks
What started as a project to create a bookmark with tango lyrics turned into quite a larger project. On the way to tango in Ashland a few weeks ago we stopped in at a lamp store and discovered these lamp shades made of skeletonized and dyed leaves. We thought that would be a cool thing to try. Well the other day during a futile attempt to find some morel mushrooms I discovered a whole forest of these skelelenonized leaves. They are moldy and dirty, but with a little dyeing with food coloring, look pretty neat. I'll try a lampshade next.
Outside of card with dyed leaves.

#002 Birthday Accordion Book
An accordion book I made for a friend's birthday with the envelope I sent it in. The saying is a Celtic blessing that I ran across at a friend's blog.
The envelope stitched closed with a naturally died hemp embroidery thread.

#001 Banquet of Wisdom

My first piece of mail art. I was going to email my friend D. just to say "hi" and that I was thinking of her. It seemed so contrived, so it pushed me into creating this postcard. It was fun and it turned out great. Most of the images and the words came from a Rumi calendar that I scavenged. It has wonderful images and words. I find myself scavenging around the house finding all my letter writing and paper craft materials and cleaning out my desk in the living room so I can have a proper place to work.
